Best Video Game Ever – Sweet 16 Results

Wow, this shit is getting intense! People are literally going balls to the wall in order to get their favorite video game through to the Elite 8. We’ve had professional baseball players arguing with each other about which video game should move on. As they say in the hood, shoot to kill.

Wait, that doesn’t make any sense. Anyway, here are the Sweet 16 results for the Best Video Game Ever tournament! Voting for the Elite 8 will begin later today!

Region One

No surprises here. The Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 seeds all advance without much difficulty. That will leave us with Super Mario Bros. squaring off with Grand Theft Auto in one Elite 8 pairing, and Mortal Kombat taking on Madden in the other matchup. Which game will step up? We’ll just have to wait and find out! (Click on the bracket to enlarge it.)

Region Two

Well, well, well… look what we have here. Region Two was clearly the upset region! It was a short run for top-seeded Zelda as Link was dominated by Mario, Luigi, Wario, Toad and the other key characters in Mario Kart. We also had the No. 7 seed Mike Tyson’s Punch Out squeak by second-seeded Contra. NBA Jam put up a hell of a fight as the No. 12 seed, but in the end, No. 4 GoldenEye was just too strong.
